I’ve been adding yarn pompoms to my Christmas gifts for my family, and I’ll be sharing a DIY blog post about it soon. This year, I thought it would be fun to continue the theme by making a Christmas wreaths diy project. I’ve chosen to make a pompom wreath with pink trees, and it’s going to match the pink decorations I have in mind for my girls. It’s going to be super cute!
This DIY wreath project is like a budget-friendly Dollar Tree creation, as I managed to get most of the supplies there, including the yarn and even these cute little pink trees. The wreath itself didn’t break the bank either – I picked it up at Hobby Lobby, and you can find the same one on Amazon, which I’ll provide a link for below. As for the pompoms, I discovered them on Amazon too.
It did take a bit of time and effort to assemble them, but if you’d prefer to save some work, I’ll also include links to pre-made pompoms that you can purchase on Amazon. This project is not only adorable but also quite easy on the wallet!
Step 1. Christmas Wreaths Diy
I made sure to prepare all the pompoms I thought I’d need for the wreath. If you find the instructions on the pompom makers a bit confusing, don’t worry. I’ll be sharing my own step-by-step instructions with clearer images in an upcoming blog post. You can expect to see the link to that post later this week.
- 27 medium pompoms for the outer side of the wreath, approximately
- 17 small pompoms for the inner side of the wreath
- 15 medium pompoms for the front
- 5 big pompoms for the front too (optional, they can be also. medium)
Step 2. Wrap The Outer Pompoms Around Wreath
I used the long string of the pompoms to tie them around the wreath instead of gluing them. This way, I can easily rearrange them if needed. After securing them, I simply cut off the excess string.
Step 3. Glue The Trees
I used a hot glue gun to attach the trees to the wreath. I started with the ones I wanted in the center and then glued the rest, placing the taller trees at the back and the smaller ones at the front. The trees I had were quite flexible, so they ended up looking straight and just the way I wanted in the final result.
Step 5. Wrap Inner Pompoms Around The Wreath
I wrapped the small (1.88 inch) pompoms around the inner side of the wreath. I chose the smaller pompoms for this part because when I tried using medium-sized ones, they looked too bulky, and not in a good way.
Step 7. Wrap Front Pompoms On The Wreath
I began by evenly placing the five large (3.46 inch) pompoms on the wreath, leaving some space at the top for the bow. After that, I wrapped the remaining medium-sized (2.67 inch) pompoms around the wreath.
Step 8. Place Bow At The Top
I started by making the bow, but you can also purchase a pre-made, beautiful, and large one. Then, I used a yarn string that goes behind the bow’s knot and wrapped it around the center at the top of the wreath. I arranged the pompoms in between the holes of the bow so it wouldn’t look too crowded.
Step 9. Hang It!
My favorite part, after putting in all that effort, was hanging this lovely, large pompom wreath on my door. It’s such a joy to receive compliments whenever someone knocks on the door – it makes all the work worthwhile, and it just looks super cute.
In the end, this Christmas wreaths diy project turned out to be not only budget-friendly but also quite enjoyable. I was able to create a charming wreath with a personal touch, and it brought a lot of joy seeing it hanging on my door and receiving compliments from visitors. If you’re looking for a fun and creative way to add a special touch to your holiday decor, I highly recommend giving it a try!
